The challenge

Second-hand electronics need exact inventory and a verifiable wipe before anyone will trust the resale. Organizations also had to move large device fleets through the full lifecycle — intake, refurbishment, resale, and secure disposal — without the record and the device drifting apart.

Collaboration

I was a senior product engineer at Bridge Nine. I built the web app, the mobile app, and the backend that operations and customers use for inventory, refurbishment, resale, and secure disposal. The lifecycle platform behind the marketplace is Ops Atlas. The work was turning device operations into software the team could run, not a storefront bolted onto a spreadsheet.

From discovery to production

How it was solved

Operations and customers use different clients on the same backend. ITAD — the secure wipe and the proof of it — lives in the core service, because a wipe bolted on later cannot be audited. The database is shaped around the device lifecycle so inventory, refurbishment, resale, and disposal stay one record. That auditable record is the trust mechanism for the marketplace.

Key technical decisions
